It was a HUGE mistake. The moment I started making money as an adult, I went right out and bought that shiny new Camaro right off the showroom floor. I couldn’t wait to flex on my friends.
But it didn’t take long for the shine to wear off, and I quickly realized that the flex wasn’t worth the significant monthly expense I’d just taken on.
Worse still, I ended up getting a job at a Big 4 finance bank and moving to New York, where I didn’t even need the car. So I left the car back home with my parents.
Now I was living in New York making six-figures, but between rent, food, going out, train tickets, Ubers and paying for a car in another state, all the the money I was making was going up like smoke.
Meanwhile, I was handling the finances for multi-million dollar deals and was able to save the bank over $8 million in my first year.
Why couldn’t I do the same for myself?
Something had to change.
I started reading about money management, tested out different strategies and after a year of focusing on my finances, I paid off a huge chunk of that car and was able to start saving money. It also was the beginning of my mission to build wealth.
